Big-City Creativity

Three creative shops—Mad Monkey, Post No Bills, and Truematter—located in Columbia’s Vista district have the kind of big-name clients normally associated with big-city agencies.

‘The best work can come out of Columbia.’
Mad Monkey
A dynamic, award-winning film production company, Mad Monkey has top-notch creative talent and a lengthy list of national clients, which translates to a conference room full of awards from the American Advertising Association.

Mad Monkey is proving “the best work can come out of Columbia, S.C.,” says its president, Lorie Gardner, who adds Columbia is “on the radar” as a Southeast destination. “We hire people that could go to L.A. or New York to work, but they come here.”

‘My heart is in this community.’
Post No Bills
Doreen Sullivan, president of Post No Bills, echoes that sentiment, saying her “heart is in this community. It’s easy for us to function here. You get a lot of support in a smaller city.”

Since opening in 2003, Post No Bills has specialized in merchandising, marketing, product development, and promotions for the entertainment industry. Its clients include DreamWorks, Paramount, TBS, BBC America, the United States Olympic Committee, and even Dewar’s Scotch whisky.
